SQL Database Administrator (DBA) | About You

As a SQL Database Administrator, you are responsible for implementing, configuring, maintaining, and managing the performance of critical SQL Server Systems and databases that adhere to best practices. You will collaborate with other data professionals to organize and update company information and data. You will activate and deactivate database accounts and ensure only authorized users have access. You are highly familiar with database queries and have a solid understanding of database design and theories. Must have strong expertise with performance turning.

SQL Database Administrator (DBA) | Day-to-Day

  • Install, upgrade, and patch supported database systems.
  • Develop, document, and implement processes for the backup, recovery, and maintenance of database systems.
  • Manage database system availability for applications and customers, ensuring that databases maintain agreed-upon service level agreements, including performance tuning, capacity planning, code review, and troubleshooting.
  • Develop, test, and implement database capacity planning, performance, and monitoring scripts/processes for assigned databases and applications.
  • Create and implement disaster recovery procedures for multiple database systems.
  • Collaborate with developers on query tuning and schema refinement.

SQL Database Administrator (DBA) | Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years of experience with SQL Server Database Administration, data workflows, integrations, and data architecture.
  • Solid experience with performance tuning and proficiency with operating system command languages is required.
  • Strong background with High Availability and Disaster Recovery options for SQL Server.
  • Experience with implementing operational automation using database job schedulers, third-party schedulers, and scripts.
  • Knowledge and experience with data modeling, data architecture, database administration, and ETL processes and procedures.
  • Experience in the BI stack focused on the integration of data from various sources into Data Marts and Data Warehouses.
  • Third-Party DBA tools and applications (e.g Oracle SQL Developer, Espresso, FME Safe, etc.).
